When you’re enjoying a stay with us here at the Metro hotel you may be tempted to simply chill out and relax in our cosy lounge area – but if you want to get up and go here are some more energetic options…

Santry Demesne Park

No. 1 Excel at exercise at Ballymun Leisure Centre and Swimming Pool – avail of our special rate at this superb facility – work out or get motivated in one of the classes – choose from Body Sculpt, Spinning, Circuit Training or Pilates – and finish off with a lovely swim, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi…

No. 2 simply relax and unwind at Santry Demesne Park – grab a book and head to the revamped Santry Woods with its ornate pond with islands, an abundance of wildlife, an arboretum, some unusual mosaics inside the wall of the main entrance – the perfect haven to get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life.

Omni Park Shopping Centre

No. 3  in need of retail therapy? Head to the Omni Shopping Centre where there are lots of really great shops, so whether you are searching for the pre holiday fun stuff like a bikini, sunglasses or suncream…or buying an engagement ring for the lucky lady in your life the huge range of shops really does have it all!

No. 4 love a good movie? Less than 5 minutes away the Omniplex is the perfect spot to watch the latest release – with their high backed luxury stadium seating in all auditoria giving a perfect view from every seat… free parking and lots of restaurants for a post movie bite..

No. 5 if history is your thing ..there are over one million stories buried in Glasnevin Cemetery, Gravediggers, Body Snatchers, Rebels and Revolutionaries, ordinary and extraordinary people. The superb interactive Glasnevin Museum shares their stories with you… the secrets are in the stones.

No. 6 a local treasure – the National Botanical Gardens: The activities and role of the Gardens is a great deal more varied than meets the eye so whilst you can simply be contemplative on the numerous benches, or visit the tropical and beautifully restored glass houses you can also explore, understand, conserve, and share the importance of plants.

No. 7 For the culture vultures Attend a fantastic night of theatre – from comedy, panto, drama, dance…with the Axis and Helix theatres on our doorstep you can enjoy pre theatre dinner with us before the show.

No 8 Adrenalin Rush required? Whether for a corporate party or lads day our Xtreme is Ireland’s newest and largest adventure centre with aerial trekking (not for the faint hearted) abseiling, climbing walls, off road buggies and paint ball this really has everything for the thrill seeker.  A short drive away this place makes the perfect fun day out…

No. 9 Golf your Game? With some superb courses from pitch n putt to international links courses in close proximity plan a 4 ball at one of the local clubs. If improvement is what you need head to one of the local driving ranges and maybe book a lesson with a pro. We’ll have a nice cold pint waiting on your return!

No. 10 Take a day trip.. just a short drive away are the picturesque villages of Malahide and Howth… enjoy a walk along the marina or cliffs, take a boat trip out to the island of Ireland’s Eye, enjoy a traditional fish and chips dinner whilst strolling the pier and feed any left overs to the well fed seals…

There really is so much to do around – whether sport, relaxation, culture, fun, adventure or simply exploring it is all available on the doorstep of the Metro Hotel!
