On May 17th we officially said goodbye to Rueben’s Restaurant and launched Bistro 9.
The launch of Bistro 9 at the Metro Hotel, officially opened by Lord Mayor Andrew Montague was not only a celebration of the launch but also a superb showcase of local Ballymun talent. Children from Gaelscoil Bhailemunna provided the talented orchestral background for the opening of the event, their skills and musicality a tribute to their hard work and the dedication of Ray Ó Díomsaigh, Principal of the school and Ron Cooney, musical director of the Ballymun Music Programme.
Lord Mayor Andrew Montague’s speech was uplifting in its support for the many achievements of the local area. He also praised the enthusiasm of not only the staff of the Metro Hotel, but all those in the tourism sector as an essential feature that can drive recovery.
The multimedia expo at the event provided a stark contrast of the before, and after the considerable investment programme Ballymun has received, and had a high visual impact of the achievements to date. Events then hit a lighter note with great locally inspired comedy from Eric Lalor, Ballymun’s comedic genius. The classy tones of the acoustic guitar finished off the event into the early hours and hence Bistro 9 was “officially” launched.
You are all very welcome to come and join us in Bistro 9! Bar and restaurant are also available for private parties, please contact us for further information.
